Micheal Jordan quote - August 27, 2008

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." - Micheal Jordan

Vacation - August 24, 2008

Just got back from a cruise, spending time with my Mom and Step-Dad and Brother. It was really nice being able to hang out, just the 4 of us for a week. My Mom is like the greatest Mom in the world. I had a blast and the bonding time was good. We listened to a Latin band, hung out at the beaches, and walked together on the different islands we went to. It was a much needed vacation for me, and I had fun being around my Brother and getting to know my Step-Dad even better. Family is important to me and it's so easy to get caught up in "life" and "work", and I think sometimes we forget what is really worth working for and who time is (which is life) worth spending. Glad that I was able to spend it with my family.

Walking in Memphis - August 10, 2008

Words of inspiration and love I've been looking for up and down the streets of Broadway. But I look into the hallowed streets of Printers Alley and only catch the ghosts of Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash. On Music Row new Condos are being built and established music companies are heading out, abandoning the famed Row like the steel mills of the North. Change is inevitable in any town, in any business. It can be scary or it can be exciting. I remember the song "Walking in Memphis" about feeling the energy of a town. I want to feel that energy and glow again, like when I first moved to Nashville. What makes people stagnent? What do we feed ourselves that we stop growing? I want to grow and feel free again like I did in my early 20's. I want to feel like Marc Cohn and sing with all my might, walking with my 10 feet off of Beale, and gospel in the air. Put on my blue suede shoes...

Journal - January 3, 2008

So I haven't journaled in like forever! Lets say all of 2007. I kind of took a breather from the music thing. We all need to do that though, I think. Stepping away from things and get a new perspective is healthy. I've learned a lot this past year about myself and my family. I learned that love is more important than anything in this world. That life is too short to be sad and sometimes taking care of yourself and loving yourself enables you to love others even better. I learned that holding on to anger and resentment causes yourself the most pain and that no amount of hurt can compare to what you do to yourself when you do that. As you make your goals this year take a moment to search your heart and see if there's anything you need to let go. Then make it your aim to love more and love better. Thats my wish for you in 2008. God Bless.

Louisville - November 11, 2006

love playing in louisville, everyone is so kind and supportive there! i have some new songs on the music page with an album we hope to have out early next year. its a live album we recorded at a couple shows at the radio cafe in nashville. its a fun little venue here in town and perfect setting for the album.

Sheryl Crow - January 30, 2006

Just got back from seeing Sheryl Crow at the Ryman Auditorium. I heard from so many people, and people within the industry at that, that she had moved to Nashville a couple years ago. Tonight during the concert Sheryl said, "I love coming to Nashville, because you guys still think that I bought a house here." I laughed my butt off. She put on a great concert and I'd heard before that she wasn't a good performer. So I guess that just proves... (especially in THIS town) ... don't believe everything you hear. Keep motivated and keep doing.

Artist of the Month - January 2, 2006

Every month we post an Artist of the Month with a link to their web-site. It's located on the links page. I love listening to music as much as I do performing it, so it's a treat to me to get to share these gold mines of great music with you guys. Some of the past artists we've had were Emily Strand from Dayton (John Lennon Songwriting Contest Winner), Edie Carey from NYC (National Touring Folkie), and Mindy Smith from Nashville (A Top Seller on Amazon).

Time Goes By - September 16, 2005

Holy Crap! It's been 2 months since I've written in my journal? Getting slack I guess. Ok... So I'm officially back in Nashville, and plan on being here for a while... Kind of crazy this year, living in Northeastern Ohio facing blizzards (ok so a girl from oklahoma would call them blizzards) to racing from city to city in Texas in 104 degree heat to going to NYC for coffee and a bagel. LOVE IT! And the coolest part about my travels has been meeting and getting to know so many cool people. I think that may be my favorite part... So the singing is a
lot of fun and of course my passion, but it just wouldn't be the same without getting to know you guys and I mean it. I always read the guestbook... and if you send me and e-mail I try to always respond. Because it
is about the relationships to me. Speaking of which (and I'm getting ready to hit a tangent) I think that's the most important thing about things that are in and out of control in our lives... (Katrina's the most recent one, but I'm talking great and small incidents) ... that is the relationships we're thrown into literally... whether we're expecting to be thrown into them or not... It's all about the people that are placed in our lives and I believe that. I hope that you'll stay in contact with me as time goes on.
God Bless,
Sarah

Houston, TX - July 4, 2005

Houston was a blast these past couple days! Some of the coolest Borders I have to say, especially the Woodlands. The roads were paved in brick and the store was absolutely huge! I'm starting to get ajusted to both the extremes: aka the hot weather and driving in Texas! Makes driving in NYC look like a piece of cake, and much safer. Oh, yeah and happy 4th to everyone.

Excited about the new tour. St. Louis was great! What a neat city! I'll be back there later this month and in August as well. Looking forward to getting to see so many new cities over the Summer and later this year. I'll be in Springfield on Thursday and Tulsa later this weekend. Later, Sarah

Weddings and so on. - May 23, 2005

Just went to my friend Emily Strand's wedding in Dayton. Beautiful wedding. I love how each wedding you go to can be so different yet always with one purpose. Been preparing mentally for this tour coming up, it's a combination of emotions from pure excitement to... Oh my gosh! Funny when you want something for so long and then the day finally gets closer to arrival and you just can't believe you're finally, and I do mean a big finally, going to do the thing you desired. I can't wait to meet all the new and familiar faces I'll be seeing on this tour. I can't wait to start a journey that will in some way not only impact my life greatly, but in becoming part of other peoples lifes through song or whatever that may be. It's a new beginning, like a wedding is a new beginning. And I can't wait to start.

Nashville - April 6, 2005

Wow! What a great time in Nashville. Just saw Gillian Welch at the Station Inn last night (A famous little dive in Nashville.) And I'll be writing with Jackie this morning. It's been great weather this week here as well... 70's. Later,

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - March 16, 2005

The Benefit Concert is coming up quickly and I look forward to seeing everyone out there next Wednesday the 23rd. This really is a worthwhile cause, benefiting not only in research but in financial aid for families with loved ones battling these cancers. Look forward to next week,

Last Letters from Kent - January 20, 2005

"From generation to generation so much gets lost. Lessons learned fender into slants and bends. Does anyone remember those 4 kids names? An Ohio college town where only a small memorial remains." -VPG

Grace - January 6, 2005

"It was the cumulation of experiences, the knowledge that my body can be pushed past its breaking point, just like my heart. In both instances, when you come to the end of yourself, God's grace is all that sustains. And it is enough."
Kristin Armstrong

Turkey Day - November 16, 2004

Turkey Day is coming up and I can't wait to go back home to Oklahoma for a week! It's getting much colder up here in Ohio, but still no sign of snow? Continually working on projects and I can't wait to share them with you guys soon. Craving that on the road time too. But one thing at a time. God bless you this holiday season and keep warm!
